What the Fortune Teller said

Yesterday was the City’s Charter Day
and the whole city was in festive mood—
fireworks, Mayor’s speech,
lechon, booze and food—including
someone like me.

So I went out to look around…

Somewhere in the plaza was a carnival
with circus and clowns trying to make
everyone happy—including
someone like me.

In the midst of this all, I found a crimson-
colored tent that promised a peek
at my future.

When I stepped inside it I got a greeting
of incense and sense of the soothsayer’s
perkiness. She impressed me when she said:
I know you are here to seek for your lover.
I began with the question: Will I ever meet him
in this lifetime? And she interrupted:
Oh yes! You’ll spend years, oh so
many years together. And boy, as a bonus,
you shall know too that he is damn
hot and handsome.

I went out and thought of
what the Fortune Teller said
that didn’t quite match with my doctor’s
prognostication.
