Mechanical Rabbits

Bernard’s wife is in hospital.
She fell, decorating their house at Christmas,
so he has to organise Easter alone,
with seventy-seven bunnies.

One lays eggs, another cycles across a tight-rope.
He speaks over his tannoy
Is that Paul – aha – and Andreas?
then leaps over the doorstep with a basket of chocolate.
