and the red wine sings

as the
rain tap
dances
on the
rooftop

hot sheet
lightning
flares, un-
shadows
the silhou-
ettes of
war: a
defeated
mattress
and its
conquer-
ors, two
lovers
washing
down the
aftermath

the city
outside
roiling
with the
barking
of angels
in the
1am sky

as we
watch
the
rain
come
down

and the
red wine
sings
