Seen and Unseen

Pyjama boys
float down stairs,
cotton limp in listless air,
hair wet,
limbs pink.
eyes half-closed like kittens.

Marzipan sky
through French doors,
light leeching
past the mango tree,
lillypillies exhaling
cicada song.

Lost days
I can almost see
but can’t reach
hover beyond the port lights,
float on grey seas,
won’t reach my shore.

Jane Frank’s poems have recently appeared in Australian Poetry Journal, the Bimblebox Art Project and a number of other journals in Australia and the UK. Jane teaches a range of writing disciplines at Griffith University in both Brisbane and on the Gold Coast in south east Queensland.
