billowing like cotton candy,
parade the Maryland sky
like a universal Rorschach test.

From my lounge chair,
connected the dots to form
an elephant with one eye, Walt
Whitman’s beard and a lion’s mane,
torso and tail without a face.

From this I realize my life
as it stands
is incomplete.

Ben Rasnic is originally from Jonesville, VA. His published collections of poetry include Artifacts and Legends, Puppet, The Eleventh Month and Synchronicity.
