exile blues

moth dust tossed
at the mouth of another day
at the doorways of rain

north is me as a child
fields at dawn

and i am looking back
toward the blue wind home
frontiers crossed over so far
so close

colours of desolation
in the secrets around

Raphael d’Abdon was born in Udine (Friuli) and lives in Tshwane (South Africa). He is the author of two poetry collections, sunnyside nightwalk (2013) and salt water (2016). His poems appear in volumes, journals and magazines in South Africa, Italy, the USA, the UK, India and Ghana. He has read his poetry in festivals, conferences, book fairs and bars in South Africa, Nigeria, Somaliland, Italy and the USA.
