A Heart Is

not a house
and injurious
to summon
it that way
even when
arguments force
the hall
to empty and empty
those chambers
naturally in place.

And still,

to argue weeds
beneath feet once
kicked each
wave and fingers
hung from birch
and hazel,

are still.

So ready our last
down lanes
by August back
to that house
tagged now,

Keep Away.
