Peace Square

In the shadow of St. Lindla’s
commuters descend to safety

through gleaming chrome,
atomic tubes,

for Prague knows the value
of backup plans.

In case of bombs, evacuate
in case of capitalism, seek warmth.

Remind yourself for the thousandth time:
your students are not supervillains.

Harsh v’s and missing articles
do not world domination build.

Hollywood has overstayed its welcome
in your mind, evict it,

cast it down to huddle
in these stations.
